Travel and Advice Vaccinations

Shingles Vaccination

Shingles is a common disease that can cause long-lasting, severe pain or permanent disability. If you are aged between 70 and 79 you are eligible for a shingles vaccination which can reduce the chances of you developing this serious disease. If you have a weakened immune system you may not be suitable for this vaccine but please ask the nurse for advice.

Vaccines (immunisations)

All immunisations and vaccinations are now delivered by the NHS Lothian health board rather than the GP surgery.

Some immunisations for babies and pre-school children are delivered in the surgery and if you need to contact the childhood immunisations team you can phone them on 0131 454 2301 or 2300.

For all other vaccine enquiries please see the NHS Lothian immunisation website for information and contact details.

Travel clinics

Clinics for travel immunisations and travel medications are offered by private providers, some pharmacies and by NHS Lothian travel clinics (where some services are chargeable).

Fees and Charges

The immunisations we provide are available on the NHS. If you require any private prescriptions the nurse will advise whether we are able to provide these and the fee.
